Daniel Pryfogle is cofounder and CEO of Sympara, a nonprofit that helps communities reimagine underutilized religious properties for social impact.

Since launching in 2019, Sympara has helped 50 congregations nationwide reimagine their properties for affordable housing, mental health, nonprofit office space, youth development and recreation. More than 1,200 units of affordable housing will be built in the coming years as 22 Sympara-equipped churches move into development.

Daniel has worked in the faith-rooted affordable housing field for more than 30 years. An ordained Baptist minister, Daniel brings to this work a deep appreciation for the themes of service, hospitality, and social justice in the Abrahamic religions.

He began his career out of college as a community journalist. A journalistic orientation continues to shape his work as a writer and keen observer of leadership, religion and society. He is the author of “More Mission: A Nonprofit Adventure in Senior Living” (ABHOW, 2016) and coauthor with Nelvin Vos and Melvin George of “Faith In The World: Mark Gibbs And Vesper Society, Being God’s Lively People” (Vesper Society, 2009).

Daniel is co-instructor of the Theological Design Lab at Wake Forest University School of Divinity in Winston-Salem, NC.
